    Hepsera is used to treat Hepatitis B, a serious liver infection that is caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV). If Hepsera is being used in the treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B, it means that the virus has remained in your body for longer than six months. The virus can cause permanent scarring of the liver, called cirrhosis. HBV can also lead to liver cancer and liver failure. Hepsera works to block the virus from infecting new liver cells, reducing or preventing further liver damage.
