  • Vancocin Uses

Patients with infection of the intestine that is caused by Clostridium difficile may be prescribed Vancocin to treat the bacterial infection. Clostridium difficile causes watery or bloody diarrhea. Vancocin is also used to treat staph infections, which cause inflammation of small intestines and colon.

After an antibiotic treatment, some patients may suffer from colitis or inflammation of intestines as a result of bacteria, and they can be administered Vancocin to help treat the infection. The drug works by killing bacteria in intestines. When taken orally, Vancocin will not kill or help in treating infections in other parts of body.
