Advair is a drug combination that contains two medications Fluticasone, which mainly functions by reducing inflammations and irritation in the airway. Salmeterol normally functions by opening up the airways in the lungs of the patient making breathing much easier. Patients must note that in order to get optimal effects of Advair they must use it regularly and as directed by the physician. Advair must also not be used to relieve sudden shortness of breath, and it does not work immediately.
