Two worlds . . .Two centuries . . .Two men who love the same woman . . .Two prayers fervent enough to shift time . . .Endless questions and possibilities . . .What would a man give for a second chance at love? What would he sacrifice to keep it?What if the proud, arrogant Fitzwilliam Darcy of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice never changed after his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet at Hunsford? What if the humbled man who successfully courted her was not the same Mr. Darcy? In Accidentally Yours, Book 1 of the Yours by Design Christian fantasy romance series, worlds collide and time shifts when two men fall in love with the same woman.Reader Diana Oaks said, "Reading this is a bit like eating something that mixes sweet and bitter - like French Vanilla Ice Cream with a bitter Dark Chocolate topping. I'm enjoying both, but the intermingling of the two does interesting things in the palette of my mind."Two Darcys are better than one. An aspect of the story that was a lot of fun to witness was how each Darcy handled their new bodies and surrounding environments. While Will Darcy might miss modern conveniences such as hot-water heaters, sweat pants, and proper toothpaste, he is thrilled at the opportunity to meet his dream-girl and tackle the mess Fitzwilliam Darcy made during the Hunsford Parsonage proposal. And even though Fitzwilliam Darcy finds the fashions, manners, and customs of 2013 to be very off-putting, he is immensely entertained with the BBC mini-series of Pride and Prejudice and re-runs of Fraiser. (I loved seeing his reactions to"that Firth fellow" and his approval of David Bamber's portrayal of Mr. Collins! Hilarious!) Austenesque Reviews, Top Ten Time Travel Novels Accidentally Yours incorporates both time travel and Christian elements into a story about recognizing your flaws, actively trying to change them, and being open to God's plan for your life. Although Fitzwilliam seems to be the Darcy most in need of change, there is plenty of room for growth in Will's character as well. Helm's take on Pride and Prejudice is creative and humorous, with some deeper moments of grief and despair to round things out. Diary of an Eccentric I'm not usually a fan of the time-traveling trope, but this series made it work for me. Three books, dear friends. Three books. Thank you, Robin M. Helm! In the Yours by Design series, the Fitzwilliam Darcy and his modern-day counterpart accidentally switch places a day after F. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth Bennet. What's great about this series is that the two Darcys we have are not each other's replica. Fitzwilliam Darcy remains arrogant and proud while Will Darcy is more kind and caring. I loved reading the entire series, and each book was quite the page-turner. Of Pens and Pages, Top Five Pride and Prejudice Contemporary Retellings Mrs. Helm keeps us turning pages as we watch these two Darcy men adjust to the impossible situation that has befallen them, enjoying their take on the 21st century and the Regency world through fresh eyes. If time travel isn't your thing and you must have an absolutely reasonable, rational explanation for every event that occurs, then skip this one. But if you can accept the premise, then just sit back and enjoy the complexities of this story as we see each of these men pursue his Elizabeth and master his circumstances. This is Book 1 of a series. Gayle Mills, Reviewer Basically, this is two wonderful stories for the price of one. The two men share the narration that switches between them every other chapter. The first book lays the ground work of introducing the situations and characters, the second finishes with the character introductions and sets things along a path toward the moment when both men must tell the truth about who they really are. The third book is the one loaded with lots of conflict and rather exciting climaxes and tender denouements. Sophia Rose, Delighted Reader The story begins shortly after Fitzwilliam Darcy delivers that letter to Elizabeth, the morning after his disastrous proposal. He is in an accident and is thrown from his horse and slams into a tree. In the future, Will is hit by a speeding car as he steps off a curb. At the time of both accidents, one is hoping he would never have to see Elizabeth again and the other is praying he could meet the real Elizabeth. Their prayers are answered as they switch places! I loved this story! The way the chapters alternate between the past and present. We follow the lives of both men as though it's happening at the same time, only centuries apart.
