Book four of the "Writing is a Process" series, "Editing: It's Time for Corrections" provides young writers with the motivation and direction they need to move forward with their writing. Editing is a difficult skill to teach and to learn. This book provides a wonderful story, written in rhyme, along with beautiful illustrations that follow a young girl as she reasons the need to edit her story. Students and teachers alike will enjoy this story along with the other books in this series. Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite It is an excellent book for parents, teachers, and children. It is important for adults to read this because it gives them an idea on how to guide children who are interested in putting down their thoughts. The book covers all the aspects of editing. The book can be used as a guide for children who are interested in writing stories. The book's educational theme makes it ideal for school libraries. It will help the teachers guide students to get into writing and how to work on improving their writing skills and writing a story on their own. Editing: It's Time for Corrections is the fourth book of eight in my Writing is a Process series for children. As with all of the books in this collection, I hope to help children, teachers, and parents to understand the steps of any writing process with great clarity. The idea of using a process to write can be intimidating to children and adults alike. It needn't be, however. After opening each lesson with one of the books in this series, teachers can easily keep their student's attention and enthusiasm for writing. Students will learn to recognize the characters in each book as they reappear in other editions. They will also remember what the characters did in the story that dealt with a particular step in the writing process. They will be learning without having to work too hard at understanding the concept of writing process steps. I strongly believe in this series and hope that librarians and school officials recognize it to be the valuable asset is is. Terri Kelley, M.Ed, is the author of dozens of books for children and adults including the Writing is a Process series, the chapter book series Gingerly, as well as many others. Her passion for writing and reading began when she was a very young girl. She was raised in Copperas Cove, Texas where she grew up outside the city limits where she enjoyed riding horses and having lots of freedom to explore her environment. It was an idyllic childhood. Terri is the mother of three adult children: Melynda, Jessica, and James. As they grew, each of her kids provided Terri with many fond memories which she incorporates into some of her writing. Now that they are adults, Terri enjoys her children's successes and keeps in close contact with each of them. In her life, Terri has held a couple of different careers. Her previous one was as a teacher, reading specialist, and gifted and talented specialist in Tomball, TX. Education has always been important to Terri and, as a result, she has earned a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction as well as completing over thirty hours towards a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. It was during her time spent teaching and earning her higher level degrees that she became aware of the kinds of books children enjoyed reading. She also noticed areas of life, education, and learning in need of good children's books. You will find many of her books respond to these needs. Terri is very happily married to her best friend, Michael. Together, they live in Eugene, OR with their black Labrador, Oliver. Terri and Michael enjoy traveling together, fishing, going to the movies, and, of course, reading great books. They have many good friends with whom they enjoy spending time as well.
