Similar in construction to G10, Micarta is made of thin layers of linen cloth that are soaked in phenolic resin, baked and pressed into huge sheets. It has no surface texture and is extremely smooth to the touch. Micarta requires hand labor, use of files, rasps, and sandpaper. Once sanded to 600 grit, apply one to two coats of teak oil per the manufacturer’s directions to seal the open fibers. Scales measure 8mm x 1-1/2" x 5". Note: Use of personal protection such as respirators and safety glasses are recommended while shaping, forming and sanding.
