    Bosentan is used in the treatment of high blood pressure in the lungs or pulmonary arterial hypertension. Symptoms associated with pulmonary hypertension include shortness of breath, fatigue, cough, angina pectoris, fainting, peripheral edema, and coughing up blood. Bosentan can also be used to reduce the number of new digital ulcers in patients with systemic sclerosis and ongoing digital ulcer diseases. Bosentan can as well be used to improve exercise capacity and reduce the rate of WHO symptoms worsening. Bosentan works by blocking a certain substance in the lungs, which helps to decrease blood pressure in the lungs.

  • Bosentan Dosage

    Bosentan dosage is given as follows. However, a doctor can prescribe a different regimen depending on the health condition and interaction of the drug with the body. Adult Greater than or equal to 40 kg

    • Initial dose: 62.5 mg after 12 hours a day for four weeks
    • Maintenance dose: 125 mg twice daily

    Less than 40 kg:

    • Initial dose: 62.5 mg after 12 hours for four weeks
    • Maintenance dose: 62.5 mg twice daily

    Pediatric: Less than 12 years: Less than 10 kg:

    • Initial: 1 - 2 mg/kg orally after 12 hours a day for four weeks.
    • Maintenance dose: 2 to 4 mg/kg orally twice daily.
