    Chantix is a nicotine agonist that helps to block receptors in the brain from nicotine. The drug helps to stimulate the nicotine receptors in the brain, helping to reduce cravings and effects of tobacco. Chantix aids in reducing the symptoms associated with smoking cessation. Unlike other smoking cessation aids, Chantix does not contain nicotine. Chantix is also used in combination with behavior changes and counseling to help stop smoking. The prescription drug last twelve weeks and should not be stopped until an individual has reached that mark. Below you will find the different uses for Chantix:

    Chantix dosage is dependent on the individual that it is being administered to. You should begin taking Chantix one week before quitting smoking. Chantix should be taken after eating. It should be taken with a full glass of water. Chantix should be taken for 12 weeks, even if you have already suceeded in quitting smoking. The following dosage is an average dose and could differ among individuals. Follow the directions of your medical professional for best results.
    • Day 1-3: .5mg once a day
    • Day 4-7: .5mg twice a day
    • Day 8 to end: 1mg twice a day
