Clotrimazole is an antifungal medication and is similar in many ways to drugs such as fluconazole, ketoconazole and miconazole. It works by interfering with the membrane production. This is the membrane that surrounds the cell. This helps prevent the growth of several kinds of fungi. This medication is topically applied onto the skin but in some cases allowed to dissolve in the mouth or vagina. The doctor will usually advise on its use.
