Indocin is used for the following purposes: it is used to relieve pain, fever, swelling and stiffness of joints resulting from conditions like arthritis, rheumatoid and tendonitis. Indocinworks by lowering the productionof chemicals referred to as prostaglandins. These chemicals cause fever and pain related to inflammation. Indocin, therefore, stops production of enzymes that make prostaglandins.
Indocin dosage is prescribed according to your medical condition and how you are reacting to the medication. It can be obtained in the form of 25 and 50 mg capsules, or oral suspension of 25mg per 5ml and 50mg suppositories used for rectal administration. In many cases, side effects depend on the dose size.
