  • Mobic Uses

Mobic is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used in the treatment of patients with inflammatory conditions. Mobic reduces pain and swelling associated with these conditions. This medication works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which plays a role in the synthesis of prostaglandins (inflammatory mediator) by converting arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. Below you will find the uses of Mobic.

    • Osteoarthritis
    • Rheumatoid arthritis
    • Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
  • Mobic Dosage

Dosage of Mobic depends on the individual and the condition being treated. This medication should be used as prescribed. Indiscriminate use can lead to adverse reactions of the body. This drug comes as tablets or oral suspension, and the lowest available dose is usually considered as the initial dose to assess the response of the patient to the treatment and to determine whether adjustment of the initial dose is necessary. Below you will find a typical dosage of Mobic.

    • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis: 7.5 mg per day, which can be increased to 15 mg daily
    • Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis: 0.125 mg per kg is recommended, and the oral suspension is usually used
  • Mobic Side Effects

Like any drug, Mobic has its own side effects that the patient and the health-care provider must know. The doctor must be notified if less serious side effects have become more frequent or bothersome. Serious side effects as well as symptoms of allergic reaction (hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, lips, throat, and tongue) need to be immediately reported to the doctor and require medical attention. Mobic should be used with care, especially in patients with cardiovascular-related medical conditions. Before taking this medication, the patient must inform the doctor if he or she has a history of heart attack or stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and diabetes as patients with these conditions are at an increased risk of experiencing serious adverse reactions/effects with Mobic. In addition, the doctor must be informed about other medications (prescription and non-prescription), supplements, herbal products, and vitamins the patient is currently taking.
