Next Choice Uses
Next Choice is an oral birth control pill for women mainly used as an emergency preventive for unwanted pregnancy. Next Choice works as an emergency contraceptive by:
- Stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg during your menses
- Barring a sperm from fertilizing any egg you may have already released
- Preventing a fertilized egg from clinging to your womb lining.
Next Choice is an emergency contraceptive, therefore it will help you to prevent an unwanted pregnancy only before it is established. Next Choice will not be effective if you have already conceived. If your menses have been delayed beyond a week even after taking Next Choice it could mean you are pregnant. Doctors often prescribe Next Choice to their patients to treat irregular, heavy, or painful periods and certain other conditions not included in this illustration. Next Choice is not a treatment for sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, Gonorrhoea or Chlamydia. Remember, Next Choice cannot terminate an existing pregnancy.
