Norvasc is used alone or in a combination with different medications since it has the capability to treat high blood pressure as well as chest pain. Norvasc is included in the class of the medication known as Calcium channel blockers.
Norvasc lowers the pressure in the blood by relaxing the blood vessels. Its metabolism relaxes the blood vessel so that the heart does not have to pump blood too hard. The chest pain is controlled by increasing the amount of blood supply to the heart. It is suggested to consume Norvasc daily to control or stop chest pain. Visit a doctor if there is severe chest pain.
Norvasc dosage is dependent on the individual that it is being administered to. The following dosage is an average dose and could differ among individuals. Follow your medical professional's directions for best results.
- The dose is available in 5 mg, and one can take up to 10 mg in a single day
- Fragile or elderly patients, small or patients with hepatic insufficiency should initiate with the dose of 2.5 mg.
- Patients ranging from ages 6 to 17 years should come consume up to 5 mg daily with 2.5 mg at one time.
The consumption or titration should proceed up to 7 to 14 days so that the doctor can get access to the patients' response to each dose level. The titration can be proceeded further if the response is positive and if the doctor suggests it.
